The Waterfront Playhouse will conclude its smash 75th season with the funny and poignant “Me and Jezebel” starring the incomparable Christopher Peterson as Bette Davis and the busiest actress in town, Carolyn Cooper will play the playwright, Elizabeth Fuller.

“Me and Jezebel” is the true-life account of screen legend Bette Davis coming to Fuller’s home to stay for one night, but she ended up staying for over a month. The New York Post said, “The story is delightful, the writing is enter- taining, and what comes out of Bette’s mouth is priceless.”

“Me and Jezebel” opens on Thursday, April 30th with a low-priced preview performance on April 29th. All performances are 8 pm. A gala opening night party is sponsored by Kevin Melloncamp and Scott Mason. The production of “Me and Jezebel” is sponsored by LaTeDa.

Cameron Murray directs the tale of how Ms. Davis takes over the lives of Ms. Fuller, her husband and young son. When the powerful lady comes to the Fuller house one evening for dinner, she asks if she might impose for ‘a night or two’ because a hotel strike has displaced her from her New York home. Elizabeth agrees, and Davis quickly inserts herself into their lives. Bette doesn’t shy away from speaking her mind on child-rearing, critiques of Elizabeth’s cooking, spiritualism, other celebrities and of course, Joan Crawford. Things reach a crisis when the family’s young son begins imitating Bette’s voice, smoking and worse, language. The Washington Post calls it, “a zingy comedy…as funny as you could hope for.”

Christopher Peterson is a master of impersonations, both visually and vocally. His acclaimed show, Eyecons, is featured at LaTeDa, with Mr. Peterson’s incredible live, no lip-sync, characterizations of a vast array of divas – from Marilyn Monroe to Joan Rivers to Liza & Judy and many, many more. Carolyn Cooper has starred in two sold-out hits at the Waterfront this season, “Noises Off” and “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” for which she also acted as co-choreographer.

Michael Boyer will create the home setting of Ms. Fuller. Lighting design is by David Bird, costumes and props are by Carmen Rodriguez and Annie Miners acts as stage manager.

Tickets are $40 (opening night is $45 and includes the after party.) There are discounts for students, military and seniors, as well as a Friday night date special of 2 tickets for $60. All tickets are subject to ticketing fees.
