Laura Shofner Smith

Laura Shofner Smith is thrilled to be returning to Key West and making her Waterfront Playhouse debut in She Loves Me as Amalia. This Oklahoma native is equally at home on both the operatic and musical theatre stage. An avid concert and cabaret performer, Laura has been touring throughout New England with Big Smile Entertainment since 2009 and singing with New England Light Opera in their summer concert series since 2010. She now serves as NH Area Managing Director for Big Smile Entertainment.

Following her leading role in Salt Marsh Opera’s production of L’Elisir d’amore, Mrs. Smith sang her dream role, Maria, in The Sound of Music at Riverside Theatre Works in Boston, MA. Another dream role was starring as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady with the Key West Pops Orchestra. Her performance there was called “extraordinary” and “dazzling.” Favorite roles include: Anita in West Side Story, Papagena in The Magic Flute, Adele in Die Fledermaus, and Brenda in Smokey Joe’s Café. In addition to her numerous stage credits Mrs. Smith is featured on Elena Zoubareva’s debut CD ‘Allure’ singing on the track “I Feel Pretty” produced by Grammy award nominee Jonathan Wyner, and on the World Premiere cast recording of Smooth Sailing, a new musical comedy by Mark Morgan and Ken Proctor. Mrs. Smith is a graduate of Oklahoma City University and Longy School of Music. Laura’s favorite current role is mother of two and wife to an incredibly supportive husband.
