Shakti Assouline was raised in Key West and is the granddaughter of local artist Susie dePoo and actor John dePoo. While in high school she performed Annelle in Steel Magnolias, at the Waterfront Playhouse. She studied acting at Sarah Lawrence College, NY, where she received her B.A. and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London. She has lived and acted in New York, the UK, Europe and India. But she feels the most privileged to be acting here, in her beloved hometown, surrounded by her encouraging family. Last season she appeared in Greetings, Reasons To Be Pretty and The Short Attention Span Theatre at the Red Barn. She recently appeared at the Waterfront Playhouse as Johnna in August: Osage County and The Other Woman/The Stranger in Dead Man’s Cell Phone.
