Mothers and Sons

A funny and powerful portrayal of a mother who pays an unexpected visit to the New York apartment of her late son’s partner, who is now married to another man and has a young son or their own. Haunted by her son’s ghost and weighed down by anger, the mother finds true hope and promise in the new and evolving definition of “family.”  The complex relationships that emerge are surprising and deeply moving.

An all-star cast headlines the Waterfront Playhouse production including Joy Hawkins (August: Osage County, Doubt both at the Waterfront Playhouse), Matt McGrath (TV’s Modern Family; Broadway’s Cabaret;  Off-Broadway’s Steve and The Legend of Georgia McBribe; movies Boys Don’t Cry, The Broken Hearts Club) Trey Gerrald (TV’s Orange is the New Black, Next Caller with Dane Cook and Jeffrey Tambor, and Next Fall at the Waterfront Playhouse).

“Eloquent, exceptionally timely and intensely resonant. A moving reflection on a changed America.” (The Chicago Tribune)
