Vanessa McCaffrey

Actor

Vanessa McCaffrey’s favorite roles have included Hedda Hopper in Bitchslap!, Hesther Saloman in Peter Shaffer’s Equus; and she directed the Times by local playwright Mark Watson during the 2007 season and directed at the Red Barn in ’08 and ’09 Rompers plays. Vanessa was born in England and grew up in Kenya. In keeping with the character of Hedda Hopper, Vanessa has worked on her enunciation for this role. Hedda (from Altoona, PA) was taught to clip off words as neatly as a man snips off the end of a cigar, in fact, she said she clipped them off so short that she sounded like an “inbred British Dowager mated to a Boston Bull terrier!” hence all the phony society female roles she played on the screen. Vanessa, the only biologically legitimate female in the cast, is elated to be working again with fellow star performers Randy Roberts and Chris Peterson; and thanks Chris for the valuable advice in tweaking the fine distinctions to her role.” Vanessa is equally happy to be working with stage manager extraordinaire, Kat Klingerman again, a dear friend from her earliest performances in Key West Theatre.
