Stuart Kaufman has been involved in Key West since 1985 when he and his partners purchased what is now the Southernmost Hotel Collection.
Stuart graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1965, practiced law in Detroit Michigan until about 1984 and has since been actively involved in various real estate developments around the country.
Stuart and four others formed a law firm in 1970 which became the 3rd largest law firm in Detroit. Stuart specialized in real estate law representing developers and institutional lenders. He left his law practice in 1985 to go into the development of real estate. Stuart and his partner have developed or acquired mobile home parks, shopping centers, office buildings, residential subdivisions, condominium projects and apartments. In addition to his real estate activities, Stuart and his partner were also principles in a company which purchased a major AM and FM radio station in Detroit. The company subsequently sold the radio stations and acquired six Midwest television stations.
In 1987 Stuart and his partner added four contiguous motels in Key West which combined contained 152 rooms to their real estate holdings. Over the next 26 years he and his partner remodeled all 152 rooms which were built in the early 50’s and added an additional 110 rooms, making the Southernmost Hotel Collection, TripAdvisor’s number one hotel in Key West. Stuart sold the hotel property in 2013, transferred much of his other real estate holdings to a Bloomfield Hills management company and retired in Key West where he lives today.
“THE BEST PROFESSIONAL
THEATER IN FLORIDA”
The Award winning Waterfront Playhouse on Mallory Square, is please to announce their On The Edge series. "With the theatre located On The Edge of the water as well as most productions chosen and designed to be performed On The Edge of the stage, it seemed like a winning title", said Managing Artistic Director Tom Thayer. Although a few productions, such as the upcoming musical The Rocky Horror Show will have more production value, the majority of productions, such as Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, The Informer, Bash, and Trunk Material 2 are created and designed to be performed simply.
Another difference in On The Edge productions is the time.
