Waterfront Playhouse Continues Spotlight Series with “What the Constitution Means to Me”

Key West, FL— The Waterfront Playhouse continues its acclaimed “Spotlight Series” with the timely and deeply engaging play “What the Constitution Means to Me,” by Heidi Schreck, running January 1-4, 2026, with a special Sunday matinee.

Starring acclaimed Chicago actress Elizabeth Ledo and directed by Melanie Keller (“Sex With Strangers,” “Vagina Monologues” at the Waterfront), this powerful and surprisingly entertaining work invites audiences into a personal and provocative exploration of the document that shapes American life — and the real people whose lives it has touched.

Blending humor, history, and lived experience, “What the Constitution Means to Me” examines the promise of the Constitution alongside its limitations, asking essential questions about justice, equality, and the future we are shaping together. At once intimate and expansive, the play resonates across generations and political perspectives, creating space for reflection, conversation, and connection.

Elizabeth Ledo brings her characteristic clarity, warmth, humor, and sharp intelligence to the stage, guiding audiences through a journey that is both deeply personal and unmistakably relevant. Under Melanie Keller’s thoughtful direction, the production underscores the Waterfront Playhouse’s commitment to presenting bold, meaningful work that reflects the moment we are living in – without losing its sense of humanity or humor.

As the next offering in the Spotlight Series, “What the Constitution Means to Me” exemplifies the Playhouse’s dedication to diverse voices and stories that engage audiences in immediate and lasting ways.

Performances run January 1-4, 2026, including a Sunday matinee, at the Waterfront Playhouse, 407 Wall Street. Tickets and additional information are available at waterfrontplayhouse.org or at 305-294-5015.
