KEY WEST, FL —The Waterfront Playhouse is pleased to announce the appointment of Becki Balcer as its new Director of Development and Community Engagement.

A longtime Key West resident, nonprofit leader, and familiar face throughout the community, Balcer brings more than two decades of experience in fundraising, special events, community outreach, and relationship building to the Waterfront Playhouse.
Most recently, Balcer served as PR, Events, and Fundraising Coordinator for MARC, Inc. Her extensive community involvement also includes leadership and board service with organizations including Keys Health and Housing, Queer Keys, Inc., and MARC, Inc., as well as service on the City of Key West Sustainability Board and the Key West Woman’s Club Marketing Committee.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Balcer has called Key West home since 2003 and has been an active participant in the community both professionally and personally. Over the years, she has supported countless local fundraising events and causes, including Fantasy Fest, SMART Ride, Aqua Idol, golf and softball tournaments, races, parades, and other community events.
“I’ve spent much of my life in Key West supporting organizations and causes I believe in,” said Balcer. “I’m excited to bring that same spirit to the Waterfront Playhouse—to strengthen the relationships we already have, create new ones, and help even more people feel connected to this incredible theatre.”
In her new role, Balcer will lead the theatre’s development and community engagement efforts, working closely with donors, members, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to strengthen the Waterfront Playhouse’s connection to the people and organizations that make Key West such a remarkable place to live and visit.
“Becki knows Key West, she knows its people, and she understands the importance of bringing people together,” said Artistic Director Patrick New. “And that makes her a perfect addition to the Waterfront Playhouse. We’re delighted to welcome her to the team and look forward to everything she will bring to the theatre and to our community.”
