Last Week to See ‘Regrets Only’ at the Waterfront Playhouse (Solares Hill)

All the bad news got you down? Escape to the Waterfront Playhouse as it presents the final week of the hilarious “Regrets Only” by Paul Rudnick. This laugh-out-loud comedy about high fashion, friendship and marriage is the perfect way to get away from it all. Directed by the Waterfront’s artistic director, Danny Weathers, the cast includes Mike Mulligan, Ronnie Goldstein, Karen Grant, George Murphy, Christina Olivieri and Robin Deck. The Waterfront production marks the South Florida premiere of Rudnick’s Off Broadway hit and runs to Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. “Regrets Only” is sponsored through the generosity of Marquis Properties Realty. Tom Oosterhoudt of Conch Color raves: “Regrets Only is hilarious and a must see for anyone who not only enjoys a good laugh but a healthy debate … You will laugh until you hurt. Don’t miss it!”

“Regrets Only” is set in the glittery realm of Manhattan society where Rudnick creates a delicious recipe for hilarity. He takes one high-powered Manhattan attorney and his fashionista wife and blends in their closest friend, a world-famous designer. He adds a bridezilla daughter whose wedding plans are tanking and mixes in a wacky maid, a cocktail-fueled mother and the president of the United States. Finally he drizzles the proceedings with the catastrophic possibilities of what might happen if gay people everywhere went on strike. Now shake vigorously with laughter. Mark Howell’s review in Solares Hill said: “Paul Rudnick’s “Regrets Only” is farce at its best, so beautifully performed that the lunacy becomes absolutely believable …”Regrets Only” at the Waterfront is what they call ‘lol’ in computer-speak, meaning laugh-out-loud. Enjoy!”

The Park Avenue penthouse setting for “Regrets Only” has been created by the Waterfront’s technical director Michael Boyer and Christopher Elwell, owner of Royal Furniture, who has donated furniture for the set. Costumes by Carmen Rodriguez and lighting by Kim Hanson.

For tickets to this final week, call the Waterfront box office at 294-5015 or you may order tickets online at www.waterfrontplayhouse.org. Single tickets are $35. Five- and four-show flex passes give considerable savings and the tickets may be used in any way you choose. Call the box office to inquire about the Wednesday night locals’ or Friday Date Night specials. Escape to the Waterfront Playhouse and enjoy some great laughs with “Regrets Only.”
