“August: Osage County” is a
hit! Audiences are raving over this
Pulitzer Prize and Tony Awardwinning
play now running at the
Waterfront Playhouse through
January 14th. This epic masterpiece
is riveting in its depiction of the
hilarious, shocking and turbocharged
meltdown of the Weston
family. The Atlanta Constitution
said “August’ is a raucous thrill ride,
ornamented with arch dialogue,
snappy rejoinders and the kind of
bad behavior that makes normally
dysfunctional families seem like the
Cosby’s in comparison.”
“August: Osage County” is the
story of a family with way too many
secrets. When the family patriarch
mysteriously disappears, the Weston
clan gathers at their rural Oklahoma
homestead. Their reunion is rocked
when shocking truths are revealed
and an emotional Armaggedon
erupts . Christine Dolen of the Miami
Herald raved “‘August’ is completely
engaging. There are quiet moments,
violent moments, tender moments,
disgusting moments, hilarious
moments and appalling moments.
But dull? Never.”
Directed by WFPH artistic director
Danny Weathers, “August” features an
ensemble of thirteen Key West actors
that are receiving universal praise
for their brilliant performances. The
cast includes: Joy Hawkins, George
diBraud, Bob Bowersox, Stephanie
Yosen, Nicole Nurenberg, Chris
Stone, Tom Murtha, Jessica Miano
Kruel, Shakti Assouline, Kyle Caskey,
George Murphy, Joe McMurray and
John Wells.
Michael Boyer’s rambling
Oklahoma house is another stunning
creation for the WFPH stage,
Carmen Rodriguez is the costume
designer and props master, David
Bird designed the atmospheric
lighting and Trish Manley is the stage
manager.
