“Forever Plaid” Ends Soon

Posted Sun, May 21, 2017 in Select Tag

Only a few performances remain of the hit musical “Forever Plaid” now playing at the Waterfront Playhouse until May 27th. Audiences are cheering the phenomenally talented Plaids and their gorgeous harmonies and goofy antics.

And critics agree. Keys Weekly called “Forever Plaid,” “an absolutely charming evening at the Waterfront…a joyous singing comedy packed with harmonious vocals and sly humor.” KONK Life calls the show “a feel-good night out. From the minute the four singers in ‘Forever Plaid’ appear on stage, a smile will steal over your face, and stay there until the last number.”

Written by Stuart Ross and directed by Cameron Murray, “Forever Plaid” boasts four incredible vocalists: Marc Crow (Sparky), Matthew Kennedy (Jinx), J. B. McLendon (Smudge) and Jeremy Zoma (Frankie).

Michael Fauss is the musical director and is on keyboards and Gary Rivenson is on bass.

“Forever Plaid” celebrates the delightfully goofy reincarnation of four male singers killed in a car crash on their way to their first big concert and now, miraculously, revived for one last performance. The Plaids deliver a 90 minute show that is musical magic.

Their repertoire features such iconic make-out tunes as, “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “Catch a Falling Star,” “Cry,” “Heart and Soul,” “Love is a Many-Splendored Thing” and many more. Plus there are also hilariously manic numbers that include “Day-O,” “Lady of Spain” (with a nod to every kind of act ever featured on “The Ed Sullivan Show”) and even the Beatles’ “She Loves Me” makes an appearance.

Michael Boyer creates the kitschy lounge, which provides the concert setting for the Plaids. John Jaworski created the beautiful lighting design, Leigh Hooten is in charge of the Plaid-tastic costume design, Ben Pegg is the sound designer and J. B. McLendon is the props master, with Trish Manley acting as stage manager.

All performances begin at 8 PM. Tickets are $40 and are available at www.waterfrontplayhouse.org or at 305-294-5015. Check out our Friday Night Date Night deal, as well as other discounts on the website. The production is sponsored by LaTeDa, with season sponsors: Digital Island Media, Wodu Media and Royal Furniture.
