The Waterfront Playhouse will kick off their award-winning 72nd Season with “It Takes Two – An Evening of Duets”- a two night concert that will star over 25 of Key West’s best performers. The evening will feature hits from the world of Broadway, pop, standards and even disco, all done as duets. It’s an evening chock full of talent, entertainment and double the fun!  Coordinated by the Playhouse’s artistic director, Danny Weathers, it promises to be an evening not to be missed!

The concerts will be held on Friday and Saturday, November 18th and 19th. The concert on the 18th will be $72 (celebrating 72 years!) and will feature a gala post-performance party sponsored by the Elwell family with catering by Jennifer Cornell and Small Chef At Large. The Saturday, November 19th evening will be $50, which features the same great concert, but with no after party.

Many of the greats of Key West musical theater are scheduled to appear: Eric Cole, Marc Crow, Robin Deck, Kim Gordon, Deb Hudson, Joy Hawkins, Denis Hyland, Maj Johnson, Fiona Malloy, J. B. McLendon, Joe McMurray, Gayla Morgan, Mike Mulligan,  Ruben Navarro, Bobby Nesbitt, Randy Roberts, Carmen Rodriguez, Gordon Ross, Vicki Roush, Rich Simone, Randy Thompson, Sandy and Dean Walters, Danny Weathers and several surprises. Guest conductor Charles Lindberg from New York will accompany the singers, with Joe Dallas on bass and Skipper Kripitz on percussion.
The concert will feature such songs as “I Say A Little Prayer For You,” “It’s Almost Like Being In Love,” “Do You Want To Dance,” as well as numbers from such Broadway hits as   “Hairspray,” “Spamalot,” “Into The Woods,” “A Chorus Line,” “Fiddler On The Roof,” and a finale that is guaranteed to have everyone jumping out of their seats!

As George Fontana noted in his Conch Color review: “Everyone talks about the remarkable concentration of first-rate talent in Key West. The Waterfront Playhouse has done something about it and produced an event that would knock the socks off even the most jaded theater devotee…These opening concerts have become an instant Key West show biz tradition. Bravo Waterfront Playhouse!”
