Waterfront Playhouse Presents “Tuesdays With Morrie”

Key West, FL — The Waterfront Playhouse continues its Spotlight Series with the intimate and deeply affecting play “Tuesdays With Morrie,” running January 15–18. The production marks the second offering in the series, which focuses on smaller-scale works that place storytelling and performance at the center of the theatrical experience.

Based on the beloved book by Mitch Albom and adapted for the stage by Albom and Jeffrey Hatcher, “Tuesdays With Morrie” chronicles the final meetings between a former student and his dying professor, exploring friendship, mortality, and the enduring impact of human connection.

The production stars two broadway credited actors: Jim Ortlieb, last seen at the Waterfront in “Stand Up If You’re Here Tonight,” aand Scott Lowell, known to television audiences as Ted on “Queer as Folk.” Under the direction of Artistic Director Patrick New, the play is staged with clarity and restraint, allowing the performances and the story to resonate in an immediate and personal way.

With humor, honesty, and compassion, “Tuesdays With Morrie” invites audiences into a shared experience that feels both quietly profound and warmly familiar. The intimacy of the production reflects the spirit of the Spotlight Series, offering theatre that meets audiences up close and lingers long after the curtain falls.

Performances run January 15–18 at the Waterfront Playhouse on Mallory Square. Tickets and additional information are available at waterfrontplayhouse.org or by phone at 305-294-5015.
